I invite\u00a0you to read that interview,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mapamundimusica.com\/en\/newsletter\/english-magazine-august20-babel-music-xp-mikolajki-folkowe-a-life-that-deserves-a-movie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>. As a warm-up to the physical event that was going to take place, a series of online conversations were organiced, in which I had the great honour of participating. You can find\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/BabelMusicXP\/posts\/pfbid0iZwXBvmY7inALE5wspDkVJ9GmhjgLoqRcSLq3m2j5vECmVSLrKzaCK47rovpQLqdl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>\u00a0a brief summary of some of the ideas shared then. The physical gathering was finally not possible in 2022 but it was a matter of time!<\/p>\n<p>And on this occasion I will just share their own words, that I took from their\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/BabelMusicXP\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Facebook page<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;We are very happy to see you again, from March 23 to 25 in Marseille, for 3 days of exchanges and discussions during an international professional trade fair and 3 evenings of showcases to discover a unique overview of current musical talents! Artist registration &gt; https:\/\/babelmusicxp.com\/en\/&#8221;\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I have to add that I am very happy too and I will be there.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/mcusercontent.com\/993c677d53044839b1b39b2dc\/images\/307891c0-0b90-a0b4-7012-48a666e8a2b8.png\" width=\"560\" height=\"207\" align=\"center\" data-file-id=\"5617335\" \/><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong><span style=\"color: #daa520;\">MIL MUNDOS, ONE THOUSAND WORLDS<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"color: #daa520;\">THE RADIO SHOW, BACK IN SPANISH NATIONAL RADIO, WITH JUAN ANTONIO V\u00c1ZQUEZ<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: open sans, helvetica neue, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/mcusercontent.com\/993c677d53044839b1b39b2dc\/images\/09704a3c-e2cc-330b-768a-4a2f1bebbaa6.png\" width=\"297\" height=\"451\" align=\"right\" data-file-id=\"5617343\" \/><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'open sans', 'helvetica neue', helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">While the historic Radio 3 of Radio Nacional de Espa\u00f1a (RNE), which has always been a leader of diversity, has increasingly abandoned the music I work with and that nourishes Mundofon\u00edas, Transglobal World Music Chart or World Music Charts Europe, Radio Cl\u00e1sica, known for many years as Radio 2, has taken over, opening up to sounds other than those of Western classical music, which has been the vast majority of its content for many years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>I am very happy to see that where some have abandoned this human heritage, others have picked it up and are making it great.<\/p>\n<p>Thus we come to the conclusion that the radio programme\u00a0<em>Mil Mundos<\/em>\u00a0returns to Radio Cl\u00e1sica, under the direction of Juan Antonio V\u00e1zquez. Thus,\u00a0<em>La Ruta de las Especias<\/em>, his summer programme, will rest for now, but\u00a0<em>Mil Mundos<\/em>\u00a0begins, with a weekly edition, which will be accessible both on the airwaves and on the podcasts of Radio Cl\u00e1sica, from October. In the meantime, you can listen to the 2016 editions\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rtve.es\/play\/audios\/mil-mundos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>. And you can listen dozens of editions of La Ruta de las Especias,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rtve.es\/play\/audios\/la-ruta-de-las-especias\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Juan Antonio (in the picture)\u00a0has kindly provided me with some insights about this work:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: open sans, helvetica neue, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><em><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/mcusercontent.com\/993c677d53044839b1b39b2dc\/images\/7662b982-cb6e-78a6-d85f-cc6fc5c0114e.jpg\" width=\"250\" height=\"250\" data-file-id=\"5617383\" \/>&#8220;&#8221;<\/em>Mil Mundos<em>&#8221; is an opportunity to explore and showcase the immense musical richness that is usually left out of the media: the folk-inspired music of the world&#8217;s cultures, from its most traditional facet to the reworkings and experiments of the most restless and daring artists.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The musical ecosystem of the mainstream media and platforms is, to a large extent, noise that contributes nothing. Just the eternal repetition of the same thing: the production and reproduction of what is known or supposed to generate returns. Nothing, with happy and rare exceptions, that generates discovery, knowledge and true musical pleasure.<\/p>\n<p>It is false that the public has no interest in these musics: what happens is that they have been denied the possibility of knowing them. From my experience of more than three decades in radio, I know that there are always receptive people who enjoy discovering this stuff, if given the opportunity, and who feel fortunate when that happens. Generating that happiness and fostering that discovery is the most gratifying thing that can happen to a disseminator of these musics.<\/p>\n<p>That is why it is important to open sound windows that allow the public to hear music that they had never imagined and that can change their lives and their perception of the world.
