Nevertheless I think it is worth the effort when it is to share lyrics like these.\u00a0<strong>In the video below you have the piece with the subtitles<\/strong>. And the truth\u00a0is that the message is quite clear and, at the same time, it is said very elegantly.<\/p>\n<p>In the center of Spain there is\u00a0<strong>a music style that is even more unknown than\u00a0<em>jota<\/em><\/strong>, rarely performed nowadays, because few people know the languaje:\u00a0it is the\u00a0<strong><em>son<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>About\u00a0<em>jota<\/em>, we have\u00a0something ready with the basics,\u00a0specifically for non\u00a0Spanish people,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mapamundimusica.com\/en\/whats-up-mapamundimusica\/what-is-jota-didnt-you-ever-heard-that-word-learn-the-basics-of-the-most-popular-traditional-style-all-over-spain\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>. Like the jota,\u00a0<strong><em>son\u00a0<\/em>is improvised<\/strong>\u00a0combining melodies from a body of guiding melodies from the people, that are in the personal baggage of the singer. The singer redress the melody in real time. The same happens with the lyrics. The shape of the\u00a0<em>son\u00a0<\/em><strong>allows the group to sing together<\/strong>, as it includes repetitions, so anybody can join to sing in that part.<\/p>\n<p>And it is a huge body of lyrics, most of them short,\u00a0than can be combined to produce the messages you want. There is also a\u00a0<strong>massive amount of enchanting melodies\u00a0<\/strong>with an ancient bewitching sound.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/mcusercontent.com\/993c677d53044839b1b39b2dc\/images\/dfe16b56-53fa-430a-ad15-788f0dbf1111.jpg\" width=\"760\" height=\"402\" align=\"center\" data-file-id=\"4805450\" \/><em>Son\u00a0<\/em>is\u00a0<strong>performed mainly with percussion and voices<\/strong>. A light accompaniment with string on drone, with the rabel (rebec), can be included.\u00a0In the picture above you see some instruments used for the\u00a0<em>son<\/em>: frying pan, saucepan, mortar, ca\u00f1era, zambomba, frame drum, bladder rebec.<\/p>\n<p>If there are plunged strings, they are used like percussion, because\u00a0<strong><em>son\u00a0<\/em>is modal<\/strong>, not tonal. The drone can be provided also by the zambomba, that is tuned. In this piece below, the singers sing in several different tones, all of them are allowed by the armonics of the zambomba. Despite being a percussion instrument, zambomba can be tuned to produce the armonics you want.<\/p>\n<div style=\"letter-spacing: 0.5px; background-color: #fcfcfc;\">\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Vig\u00fcela are preparing their new album, which will include some\u00a0<em>sones<\/em>.
